How to Be Saved
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
Salvation is a gift. You don’t earn it — you receive it.
Here’s how in 4 simple steps:
1. BELIEVE — Trust in Who Jesus Is and What He Did
To be saved, you must believe the truth about Jesus Christ. Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God, fully God and fully man.
What did He do? He lived a perfect life, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again on the third day.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
Believing means more than just agreeing with facts in your head. It’s trusting in Jesus with your heart — depending on Him as your only hope for forgiveness and eternal life.
2. REPENT — Turn Away from Sin and Toward God
True faith leads to repentance. That means turning from your old life of sin and choosing to follow God. You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to surrender.
Repentance is a change of heart that shows in your actions.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” — Acts 3:19
When you repent, you’re not just sorry — you’re choosing a new direction: away from sin and toward Christ.
3. JESUS SAVES — Salvation Is a Gift
We’ve all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Our good deeds can’t fix that. No matter how hard we try, we can’t earn our way into heaven.
But the good news is this: Jesus already paid the price.
He lived a perfect life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again so that we could be forgiven and set free. He took the punishment we deserved so we could be made right with God.
Salvation isn’t something you achieve — it’s something you receive. It’s a free gift of grace, offered to everyone who believes.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23
No matter your past, no matter your mistakes — Jesus saves. He offers forgiveness, healing, and eternal life. You just have to accept it by faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9
4. YOU MUST RESPOND — Make It Personal
Knowing the truth isn’t enough — you must respond. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Surrender your life to Him.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
You can respond right now. Talk to God honestly in prayer. Ask Him to save you, forgive you, and lead your life.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
Salvation means being rescued. Not just from hell, but from a life without God. We were all born into sin — separated from our Creator. But Jesus came to bring us back.
It’s not about religion. It’s not about being good enough. It’s about trusting in the One who took our place.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9
A Prayer to Receive Christ
(You can pray this from your heart. God hears you.)
“Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I know I’ve sinned and I need Your forgiveness. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. Come into my life, be my Lord and Savior. I give you my heart, my life, and my future. I choose to follow you. Amen.”
