NOW WHAT? — YOUR WALK BEGINS🚶
Growing After Salvation
Getting saved is just the beginning—not the end—of your journey with Jesus. Like any new relationship, your walk with God grows stronger as you spend time with Him, learn His Word, and live it out.
– Here’s how to grow –
📖 Read God’s Word – Start with the Book of John
The Bible is how God speaks to you. It’s your spiritual food, your guide, and your anchor.
• Start in the book of John (in the New Testament) to learn about who Jesus is, what He did, and why it matters.
• Don’t rush. Try reading one chapter a day, and ask, “What does this teach me about God?”
• Highlight or write down verses that stand out.
• Use a Bible app like YouVersion if you don’t have a physical Bible. You can even listen to it as audio.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105
🛐 Pray Every Day – Talk to God Like a Friend
Prayer doesn’t have to sound fancy. You’re simply having a conversation with your Heavenly Father.
• You can pray anytime, anywhere—while walking, driving, or before bed.
• Tell Him how you’re feeling. Ask for help. Thank Him. Just be real.
• You can follow the 5-step guide: Praise, Thank, Confess, Ask, Listen.
• Don’t just talk—learn to be still and listen too. God often speaks through Scripture, peace, or conviction in your heart.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” — Colossians 4:2
🤝 Join a Bible-Believing Church – You Weren’t Meant to Walk Alone
You need other believers to help you grow. Christianity was never meant to be a solo journey.
• Look for a church that teaches the Bible, lifts up Jesus, and helps people grow spiritually—not just go through religious routines.
• Attend regularly, even if you’re nervous or unsure. Give it time.
• Join a small group, Bible study, or new believer class to connect and ask questions.
• Surround yourself with people who encourage you in your faith.
“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” — Hebrews 10:25
✅ Obey What You Learn – Walk It Out One Step at a Time
As you read the Bible and hear God’s truth, begin to apply it. Obedience is how faith grows.
• Start small. If the Bible says “forgive,” forgive. If it says “serve,” look for someone to serve.
• You won’t be perfect, and that’s okay. God is patient—but He does expect progress.
• Don’t just be a hearer—be a doer. (See James 1:22)
• God will guide you one step at a time. Trust Him, even when it’s hard.
“If you love me, keep my commands.” — John 14:15
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” —Psalm 119:11
🔹 What is Baptism?
Baptism is a powerful and public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It’s an outward expression of the inward transformation that has already taken place in your heart. When you choose to get baptized, you’re saying to the world, “I’ve decided to follow Jesus — no turning back.”
Going under the water symbolizes dying to your old life — your sins, your past, your way of living without Christ. Coming back up from the water represents your new life in Him: forgiven, redeemed, and made brand new through faith.
It’s important to understand that baptism doesn’t save you. You’re saved by grace through faith in Jesus alone. But baptism is a powerful step of obedience — one that Jesus Himself modeled for us and commanded His followers to take. It’s an act of worship, trust, and surrender.
Throughout the New Testament, new believers were baptized as an immediate response to their faith. It wasn’t a requirement for salvation, but it was always a joyful and important next step — a way to go public with their faith and identify with Christ and His Church.
Baptism also unites you with other believers around the world. It connects you to the global body of Christ — brothers and sisters who’ve also made that decision to follow Jesus and live for Him.
If you’ve put your faith in Jesus but haven’t yet been baptized, don’t wait. This is your invitation to boldly declare your new life and walk in the freedom He’s given you.
“Peter replied, ‘Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'” — Acts 2:38
✅ Steps to Get Baptized:
- Understand what it means
- Baptism doesn’t save you—Jesus does. But it’s an important next step of obedience.
- It shows the world that you’ve trusted in Christ and want to follow Him.
- Talk to a pastor or church leader
- Reach out to a local Bible-believing church.
- Ask about their baptism process (some do classes or interviews to make sure you understand the step you’re taking).
- Pick a time and place
- Most churches offer baptism services—some in a church building, some in pools, lakes, or oceans.
- Invite friends and family! Baptism is a celebration of your new life in Christ.
- Share your testimony (optional)
- Some churches invite you to share a short story of how you came to faith. Don’t worry—just speak from the heart.
- Keep it simple: 1) My life before Christ, 2) How I met Him, 3) My life now.
- Get baptized!
- A pastor or leader will guide you through it—usually by briefly lowering you into the water and raising you up.
- This act symbolizes being buried with Christ and raised to walk in new life (Romans 6:4).
- Continue growing
- Baptism is just the beginning. Keep reading God’s Word, praying, attending church, and walking in community.
📣 How to Share Your Faith
Tell Others the Good News About Jesus
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” —Mark 16:15
What to Remember Before You Share
You don’t need to be a pastor or Bible expert to tell someone about Jesus.
God delights in using ordinary people with willing hearts.
Lead with Love and Listen Well
Sharing starts with caring. Ask questions. Listen to their story.
People are more open when they feel seen and heard.
You’re Not Alone
The Holy Spirit goes before you and speaks through you.
Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses…” — Acts 1:8
The Gospel Is Enough
You don’t have to make it fancy or emotional.
Just share the truth:
Jesus lived, died, and rose again—and He did it for them.
Focus on Jesus, Not Arguments
Don’t get caught up in debates.
Your goal isn’t to win a discussion—it’s to point them to the Savior.
Every Role Matters
Some plants, some water, and some harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6).
You might be the first step in their journey, or the one who helps them say “yes.”
Be Bold and Be Kind
Boldness isn’t being loud.
It’s being clear, loving, and unashamed of the Gospel.
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation…” — Romans 1:16
Final Encouragement:
You don’t need to be a pastor to share your faith or get
baptized- you just need a willing heart. Jesus used
everyday people like fishermen, tax collectors, and
women at wells. He’ll use you, too.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone who
believes.”
– Romans 1:16
